A personal message from Becky
MEET BECKY & JACK, THE OCEAN LOVERS BEHIND WATKIN & BERRY
When I am not doing weddings, you absolutley WILL find me by the ocean. Cornwall is my favourite coastline and the place where Jack and I feel most restored and at peace (we even got married there we love it that much). I regularly go camping, birdwatching and bodyboarding in Cornwall.

The ocean attracts me for many reasons not least the incredible wildlife and eco systems that reside there. I am passionate about restoring our oceans and was devastated to discover the realities of fishing (David Attenborough's Ocean documentary is a must see.)
I'd be lying if I said I have always prioritised the climate in my small business. I have made mistakes, including using harmful products in order to get jobs done quickly or more efficiently. Unfortunately, the flower industry is full of plastic products that can enter our waterways and oceans.

In this world, we quite often want to go bigger and better and our wedding days are no exception. We may not even consider the environmental impact. This isn't about making anyone feel bad, but instead offering a gentle nudge to think about the suppliers you may want to consider for your special day.

If you care about the environment like me, then let's chat about your wedding (closeted bird watchers are most welcome!) I have recently made the decision to donate 1% of every sale to Marine Conservation Society via Work for Good. It is important to me that my small business gives something back rather than just taking from our planet. I think we can all agree, there is a lot of taking already. Let's change the world!
Our Values
Stewardship: Caring responsibly for God’s creation (Genesis 2:15)
Love & Service: Serving others with compassion and humility (Mark 12:31)
Integrity & Truth: Doing what’s right, honestly and transparently (Proverbs 11:3)
Community & Fellowship: Building strong, loving relationships locally (Hebrews 10:24-25)
Gratitude & Generosity: Giving back and sharing blessings (2 Corinthians 9:6-8)

How your wedding flowers affect the environment
As a small business it is so important that we are honest with couples about our impact on climate change and how we aim to reduce this. It can be easy for businesses to fall into the trap of claiming they are eco friendly & sustainable when actually they are not.
Wedding flowers often come with hidden environmental costs, including high carbon emissions from importing flowers from abroad, excessive plastic packaging, and harmful products such as floral foam.

Watkin & Berry is committed to using sustainable and eco friendly methods of floristry where possible. This includes using biodegradable and compostable products. We have also made the decision to ditch floral foam when possible, which can be harmful to aquatic life. On the rare occasion that we have to use it, we only use biodegradable foam.

Whilst we still have a long way to go in becoming fully sustainable, we have recently made the decision to donate 1% of every sale to Marine Conservation Society via Work for Good. We are passionate about doing our bit to protect our oceans and the wildlife and communities that rely on it to survive.

The four steps we are taking to sustainability

Eco friendly methods & practices
Where possible, we only use sustainable methods of floristry and use products that are either biodegradable or compostable. We only take on a certain number of weddings each year and have a 1 van policy for our weddings. This means we won't take on large scale weddings. Whilst we love large scale designs, we won't travel abroad or do large scale installations that require multiple forms of transport.

Re-use & reycle
We encourage our couples to return items like trays, bottles & containers after their wedding day. We can then reuse them for other weddings instead of them going directly into landfill. Our larger installations are made with chicken wire which we often reuse for other weddings. Where possible, nothing goes to waste.

Giving something back
One of our key values is Generosity. We regularly give and support charities who align with our values. For every wedding booking we take, 1% of every sale will be donated to Marine Conservation Society via Work for Good. By booking your wedding with us, you are helping to support our oceans.

Buying British Flowers
We currently source most of our flowers from Holland but where possible, we buy British. By next year, we are hoping to offer British only wedding flowers for couples who want to support local flower farms. This will give couples an amazing opportunity to choose British only flowers for their big day. We can't wait to roll this out in 2026!
